These two pages have been taken from my travel sketchbook I made from my trip to London. We visited many art galleries and museums during the 3 days and out of all notes, sketches and
photographs I gathered these are two of my favourite pages that I created.
These two sketchbook pages have been extracted from my latest project. We were given an adjective and a noun to explore and come up with a unique concept that related to and inspired us at the end of the project. My words were decorative and window. I decided to go off on a tangent with the word window as it is the one that stood out to me most and I ended up with the concept of eyes.
This piece is also from my latest project 'Word Play', following the theme of eyes. Using magazine cut outs I placed one pair of eyes over the eyes of another model to show emotion and how they are feeling. I wanted to extend this piece further in a graphics manner, so using Photoshop i played around with different filters and effects to get certain outcomes.
This is a piece from the latest project I have been working on. As I was focusing on the word eyes, I wanted to go deep with the concept and came up with 'eyes are a window to the soul'. Using images I had taken, I wanted the effect that when you tear away the mask from someones eyes, it reveals how they are truly feeling behind their facial expression.
During the first month of the Foundation course we took a trip to the Liverpool Tate Gallery. We were given a brief to find something that inspired us within the exhibitions and create either a 2D or a 3D piece. One of the exhibitions they had to offer was all to do with outer space and planets. I was fascinated by this exhibiton and all the content within that I decided to make a 3D sculpture of all the planets. Using polystyrene balls of different sizes and paint I was able to create this piece.
A1 Shirt Sketch
This drawing is from the shirt brief we were given towards the start of the year. We had to draw an A1 portrait of a plain white shirt and also sketch some small parts of the shirt to capture specific detail.
Chalk & Oil Pastel on Sugar Paper
These two pieces are from the 'Household Object' brief. We were told to bring in a household object from home and I chose a pizza cutter. The brief was to draw a series of sketches and create two 3D models of our interpretation of the object using appropriate and innappropriate materials. The top drawing was a front on view of the pizza cutter sketched using chalk and oil pastels.
Continuing from my household object brief this is a 'desirable object' that we were asked to produce of our item. I decided to incorporate the pizza cutter into a bouquet of flowers to make it look desirable. I achieved this piece using Photoshop and and mirroring the object to make it go with the flowers.
For this task we had to think of words that related to our object. I thought to incorporate the words into an image of the object so you were able to picture what the object was that was being described.

These two images are taken from a print making workshop that I participated in. We were asked to bring in leaves, sticks and any kind of material that would make and imprint on paper. I decided to focus on the leaves as I really liked the detail they held when transferred onto paper. I could see both of these prints potentially being used as wallpaper because of their grainy effect but clear outlines.
This was the very first piece of art I produced during the course. We were told to focus on a point in the room and draw it. This brief lasted around a week and a half, so everyday I would come back to it and realise mistakes I'd made that I hadn't noticed before. I used a variety of different mediums during the process which included, a rang a pencils to get the sharp lines and the shading, biro for the dark corners and emulsion for the white walls.
This was another print making session that I took part in which followed on from the first brief we were given. Using a piece of card and different sizes and textures of tape we had to create the image of the room. Using paint I then went over the tape and printed it onto A3 paper. The image on the right is the card with the tape and the image on the left is the outcome.
This painting is from a paint workshop that was held in our class. The task was to experiment with paint and textures. For this piece I used a variety of materials to achieve the look including cut up cardboard, sponges, bubblewrap, leaves and paintbrushes. I think this piece has the potential to be used for things such as gallery adverts/posters because of the vibrant colours and unique patterns.
During this lesson, the main focus was not on the model but the environment around him. He had a wooden stand in front of him which I spent the majority of the lesson perfecting. We are taught to get the environment in the background of the drawing as it's a way of figuring out where everything else goes.
